To put it into perspective: I loved doing stocktakes at the previous company I worked for because it wad a fun, exciting team effort to accomplish. It is a nightmare that can quickly spiral out of control and often it does because IT support never fixes the issues permanently and getting them to assist in clearing out the manual invoices is another daunting task. This company runs through a manual invoice book every month because the system that Point of Sale is built on never works. Not to mention that these systems depend on each other, so if one goes done your work can literally be brought to a halt. Here you need to learn 3 different systems in which all of the above are done in different spaces. ![]() These systems were often all in one systems in which Point of Sale, stock management, reporting, stock takes, and IBTs were done on all-in-one. I am used to working for companies that have extremely functional and efficient systems. Not the company you want to work for if you have almost two decades worth of experience in retail like me Of course it goes unsaid to almost never quite a job before you secure another one. On that note, I'd say, stay for as long as it takes to reach your goals there in terms of experience then run as fast as you can. Give it a year and if you've worked hard enough, the stars can align for you to get into management as the company tends to have high turnover. It can help you to get into positions faster than you can imagine (if you work hard enough and clearly tell your managers about where you want to be) especially if you want to be within management, I would recommend. This company gives a chance for youth to create and build on their CVs. However, if you can overlook this and work in harmony with every individual in the store's workforce then you will definitely enjoy the company culture. You will definitely be a sales consultant, admin assistant, stock counter, technician, cleaner, and SECURITY. Everyone is basically taking on some form of each other's job. Lastly, iStore seems to not care for your job description and it's roles. You cannot reach HR without going through your manager (you technically can but if you have a manager that's not understanding, they will find out and probably make your time there hard). If you are not on good terms with either one of them, you will not like it there. Enjoying your time as an employee at istore is heavily dependent on both the overall Store manager and the admin manager. ![]()
